Summer Camp Water Safety InstructorÂ
Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college-preparatory school of close to 1,000 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. Our vibrant intellectual community draws students from all over the city. Admission to the school is competitive, and both our parents and students value achievement.
The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking a Water Safety Instructor for its children’s summer camp in 2026 to lead our camp groups ranging from grades PreK - 9.
General Responsibilities:
- Lead group classes for children grades PreK - 9th
- Maintain a safe environment for our users and enforce all pool rules
- Vacuum pool and maintain a clean and clear pool deck
- Store and maintain all pool equipment
- Perform weekly staff drills for in-water and land-based emergencies following the camp Emergency Action Plan
Dates and Hours:
June 24 - August 7, 2026 with mandatory staff orientation the week of June 20th.
Monday - Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications:
All candidates must possess, or willing to obtain the following:
- Red Cross Certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR-PRO, and First-Aid
- Red Cross Certification in Water Safety Instruction or equivalent.
- Prior teaching experience with young children
