Middle School Mathematics TeacherÂ
The Berkeley Carroll School is a Pre-K through grade 12 college-preparatory school of almost 1,000 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. The Berkeley Carroll Middle School seeks an inspirational and passionate math teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Curiosity, resilience, discernment, empathy, and an abiding interest in the special qualities of middle schoolers – as well as direct teaching experience with this age group – are essential. Our middle school covers grades five through eight, and experience with these age levels is essential. Duties would also include serving as a middle school advisor. Familiarity with Math Counts or coaching math team is a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach engaging mathematics classes that emphasize conceptual understanding and deep mathematical connections.
- Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets the developmental needs of middle school students.
- Regularly assess and report student learning and growth, providing timely and meaningful feedback.
- Collaborate with members of the Math Department to create lesson plans and develop curriculum, ensuring that Berkeley Carroll’s Portrait of a Learner—its essential skills and habits of mind—is consistently cultivated.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and well-being.
- Participate actively in the life of the school, including faculty meetings, professional development, leading an advisory, and community events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the Math program and broader school mission.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred
- Secondary (5-12) Mathematics education teaching experience
- Deep conceptual understanding of mathematics
- Deep enthusiasm for middle school students
- Commitment to reflective practice, ongoing professional growth, and continuous improvement
- Strong organizational, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- High level of cultural competency and a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion

Salary and benefits are highly competitive and will be offered commensurate with experience and credentials. The annual salary range for this 75K-115K.
