Children’s Day Camp Assistant Counselor
Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of 970 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking a full-time Assistant Counselor for its children’s summer camp in 2026, for groups ranging from grades PreK - 3. Working with a team, including a head counselor, other Assistant Counselors, and CIT’s, Assistant Counselors help oversee the safety and well-being of a group of 20 campers for the duration of the camp. They plan and implement age-appropriate recreational and educational activities for campers on a daily basis.
Dates & Hours:
June 24 - August 7, 2026
M - F: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Must be available to work at least two consecutive sessions of camp. Priority given to those who can work the full summer. Must be available the week of June 20th for staff orientation.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise campers during the camp day
- Assist the counselors/teachers in daily administration of the summer programs, including the following: ensure the well-being and safety of all participants, administer games and activities, assist with courses, maintain a fun and safe environment for the participants, keep facilities clean and assist with signing participants in and out each day.
- Report any incidents or accidents to appropriate program personnel
- Communicate with parents, as needed
- Assist with safe arrival/departure of campers
- Maintain awareness of participant/counselor allergies, medications and emergency contact information
- Other camp duties, as assigned
Job Requirements:
Must be a rising 12th grade high school student to entering 1st/2nd year of college
Must have a minimum of one of the following:
- one season of previous experience at a children’s camp
- one year of experience as a babysitter, nanny or child care provider
- one year of experience working with children in an after school program or similar educational setting

This is a seasonal position with a salary of $655/week for incoming Assistant Counselors and $675/week for returning Assistant Counselors.
