Music Intensives

The Berkeley Carroll Summer Music Program is an immersive, weeklong experience for students entering Grades 6–9 who are ready to grow as musicians and performers.

Designed for students with prior instrumental experience, the program offers focused, ensemble-based study in a collaborative and inspiring setting.

 

From June 22–26, 2026, students engage in daily rehearsal, theory, listening, and performance, strengthening their technique, expanding their musical understanding, and building confidence alongside peers who share their passion.

Chamber and Orchestral studies

June 22 - 26

Rising 6th Grade-Rising 9th Grade

Cost: $800

Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

This class is for students with previous violin, viola, cello, or bass experience, Chamber and Orchestral Studies will strengthen technique and performance skills in small ensemble and orchestral settings.  We will cover a variety of musical styles including classical, fiddle, and contemporary/pop.  In addition to applied performance, students will broaden their musicianship and music appreciation  with daily exercises in music theory and listening.

Jazz intensive

June 22 - 26

Rising 6th Grade-Rising 9th Grade

Cost: $800

Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

This summer program is for students with previous experience playing a woodwind, brass, percussion, or rhythm section instrument. The BC Summer Jazz Intensive is designed to strengthen students' technique and performance skills in both jazz combo and jazz ensemble settings. Each day students will be learning and developing their skills with jazz improvisation and playing by ear, performing in a combo, performing in a larger group setting or instrumental section, jazz theory, and jazz appreciation. Students will leave this intensive with a deeper understanding of jazz music as well as the confidence to improvise more freely amongst their peers.
