If you were anywhere near the Berkeley Carroll Lower School recently, you already know: something special was happening.

The 3rd Annual BC Book Fair Family Day, hosted by the Lower School Library and the Parent Association, welcomed hundreds of families for a celebration of books, creativity, and community that was, by every measure, the best one yet.

Families browsed a wide selection of books for purchase, while students dove into arts and crafts, got their faces painted, stopped for storytime with special mystery guests, and fueled up on cookies and refreshments.

The day's headliner was award-winning author-illustrator Azadeh Westergaard, who brought her picture books to life for the BC community, and her hands-on art workshop gave students the chance to try their hand at illustration themselves. 

The Book Fair also gave back. A Book Drive collected donations for GO Project and Brooklyn Book Bodega, ensuring that the joy of reading extends beyond the Berkeley Carroll community and into the neighborhoods we call home.

And then, of course, there was Roary. Because what's a celebration without a surprise appearance from BC's favorite Lion?

Thank you to every faculty member, staff member, parent and student volunteer, and special guest who made the day so memorable. The 3rd Annual BC Book Fair Family Day was a joyful, generous, imagination-filled reminder of what this community does best, and we're already looking forward to next year.
