On Thursday morning, students and families gathered at the BC Athletic Center for one of the school year's most anticipated send-offs, a joyful, music-filled ceremony honoring each student's transition to the next grade level, and a particularly meaningful one for the 4th graders stepping into Middle School life.

The heart of the ceremony was the iconic BC arch. One by one, students passed through as their community cheered them on, the arch serving as a symbol of everything they've accomplished and everything still ahead. Head of School Dr. Lisa Yvette Waller and Lower School Director Kelly Grimmett offered warm reflections on the year, honoring the hard work, kindness, and curiosity that defined the 2025–26 school year.

Music and spirit filled every corner of the ceremony. Students performed festive songs and cheers, and the beloved anthem "Today is Arch Day!" rang through the Athletic Center. Fourth graders Fiona '34, Lucas '34, and Eleanor '34 took the microphone to share memories and reflections from their years in the Lower School.

Then came the parade.

In a new tradition launched last year, the 4th graders and their families made their way from Carroll Street to the Middle School campus at Lincoln Place. Dr. Waller and Middle School Director Paul McElfresh were there to greet them and officially opened the gates to their next adventure as music from the Middle School Band filled the courtyard. Inside, a full welcome party awaited with food, treats, games, arts and crafts, and plenty of celebration.

Congratulations to all of our Lower School students, families, and educators on a wonderful year. And a special cheer for the rising 5th graders: the gates are open, and Middle School is ready for you.
