Running Strong: Middle School 5K Brings Community Together

The 3rd Biennial Berkeley Carroll Middle School 5K Fun Run is officially in the books, and what an awesome day it was.

Close to 300 students, along with faculty and staff, took to the course to run, walk, and cheer their way through 3.1 miles of chilly, windy conditions in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The event marked the culmination of weeks of training that began in mid-February as part of Heart Health Month, giving students the opportunity to set goals, challenge themselves, and celebrate fitness together.

But what truly made the day special was the incredible sense of community. With encouraging messages along the route, and the cheering supporters at the finish line, students were lifted up every step of the way. Many even crossed the finish line arm-in-arm with friends.

The event was powered by the energy and support of the entire BC community. Faculty, families, staff, and especially the facilities and security teams helped make the day run smoothly despite the cold. The overwhelming turnout and enthusiasm turned a brisk afternoon into a warm celebration.

Most importantly, the day was a celebration of what it means to live active, healthy, and connected lives, together as a community.

Congratulations to all participants for their effort and determination.
