Performances, Prizes, and Pies: Class of 2027 Delivers at JRVS

The student operated spotlight panned to the stage, and the Junior Variety Show, better known as JRVS, was underway. For the Class of 2027, this was their moment to carry a beloved Berkeley Carroll tradition forward, and they delivered in every sense of the word.

JRVS is one of the Upper School's most anticipated events of the year, a showcase where students from across all grades step into the spotlight to share their talents with classmates, faculty, and families. This spring's edition lived up to the legacy, featuring a packed lineup of music performances, spirited dance acts, student-produced films, and a crowd favorite, a “How Many Marshmallows Can You Fit in Your Mouth?” competition.

It’s a tradition that reminds us just how much talent and heart exists in this community.

But JRVS is more than great entertainment. As the junior class's signature fundraiser, the proceeds go directly toward prom expenses, meaning every ticket sold and every dollar raised is an investment in the class's milestone celebration next year. But no JRVS would be complete without the raffle prize to beat all raffle prizes. The most coveted award of them all: the chance to pie a faculty member in the face. An incredibly good-sported bunch that included Upper School Director Jane Moore, who braved the tarp with dignity.

The evening was a testament to what makes Berkeley Carroll's Upper School community so special: students showing up for each other, celebrating each other's gifts, and doing it all in service of something bigger than any single performance. JRVS delivered the kind of shared joy that only a truly tight-knit school community like BC can create, whether you were in the front row cheering on a friend's performance or raffling to cover your favorite teacher in whipped cream.

Congratulations to the Class of 2027 on a memorable night. The torch has been carried, and the bar has been set high for the Class of 2028.
