Grandparents and Special Friends Day Comes to the Lower School

There are school days, and then there are special days like Berkeley Carroll’s recent Grandparents and Special Friends Day.

Kindergartners and fourth graders welcomed their most important guests to campus for a morning of laughter, learning, and the connection that only happens when generations come together in the same room. For one special day, the Lower School wasn't just a place for students, it was a place for everyone who loves them.

Guests stepped right into the BC experience, visiting classrooms alongside their student hosts and getting a genuine sense of what a day at Berkeley Carroll looks and feels like. For many, it was a window into a world their grandchildren and special friends talk about at the dinner table, now made wonderfully real.

The fourth graders took things a step further and sat down with their special visitors for one-on-one interviews, asking questions about family history and key moments in American history. Instead of textbooks, they received lessons in the warm voices of those who lived it, to the students who will carry it forward.

The day also featured performances and speeches from students across both the Lower and Upper Schools, reminding everyone, students, guests, faculty, and staff alike, why this community is so worth celebrating.

Thank you to every family, friend, and member of the BC community who joined us and made the day so memorable. You are, as always, a cherished part of this school.
