Recently The Lower School was thrilled to welcome acclaimed author and illustrator duo Andrea Pinkney and Brian Pinkney to the BC Athletic Center. Together, they have created more than 70 children’s books that explore Black history, culture, and storytelling through words and illustration.

Their visit brought these stories to life in an engaging and interactive presentation that included live readings, music, and opportunities for students to participate throughout. Students experienced firsthand how storytelling can extend beyond the page through voice, rhythm, and visual art.

Adding to the event, Upper School students from the Spring Intensive Music with a Mission performed as guests, greeting students with live music as they entered and offering a musical send-off at the conclusion of the assembly.

Berkeley Carroll extends a heartfelt thank you to the Pinkneys for sharing their love of literature, art, and music with our Lower School.
