Planned Giving

Planned Giving at Berkeley Carroll: Lasting Impact for Every Lion

Plan your future gift to Berkeley Carroll today, and join a dedicated circle of legacy donors shaping our School’s story.

Headmistress Ina Clayton Atwood led the Berkeley Institute from 1917 to 1947, with clarity and stewardship that reached past her time into ours.

In her honor, members of the Atwood Society strive to do the same: their leadership, through bequests and other planned gifts, lights the path for all future Lions.

Your gift, your timeline—with Berkeley Carroll’s support each step of the way.

If you have made a bequest or planned gift naming Berkeley Carroll, thank you!

Please contact Director of Advancement Emily Quay so we may add your name as a member of the Atwood Society.

Meet Miss Atwood

Dignity, charm, and sympathetic viewpoint are the essentials of true gentility; we dedicate our yearbook to the epitome of all three.

Miss Atwood
The Berkeley Institute Class of 1945

In her 30-year tenure as Headmistress of the Berkeley Institute, Ina Clayton Atwood shepherded her students and colleagues through times of enormous change, here in Brooklyn and across the globe.

Through the Great Depression and both World Wars, and with quick-shifting social climates and school budgets, Miss Atwood made sure that her students’ education was both a constant and a means of moving forward, together: rooted in history, conscious of current events, and facing a future made better by Berkeley Institute women.

Overseeing a transformative expansion of the Lincoln Place campus, including a brand-new gymnasium, a series of enhancements to the School’s curriculum, and the implementation of an annual “Grand Tour of Europe” for graduating seniors, Miss Atwood’s gifts of improvement, innovation, and global citizenship are deeply felt and celebrated at Berkeley Carroll today.
