Academics

Because of Berkeley Carroll's unique history — emerging as the fusion of the prestigious and traditional Berkeley Institute, founded in 1883, and the feisty, progressive Carroll Street School, founded in 1966 — the school has developed a dynamic approach to academics that incorporates what we think are the best features of progressive and traditional models.

Our program is characterized by a rigorous academic foundation enriched with creative arts and athletics; an emphasis on student-driven learning; the meaningful incorporation of interdisciplinary study; opportunities for high-level pursuit of individual passions; and a commitment to our mission's emphasis on critical, ethical and global thinking.
