Technology

In the Middle School, we teach our students to be confident, flexible, and responsible users of technology, both in and out of the classroom. Our 1-to-1 device program - utilizing iPads in 5th and 6th grades, and Chromebooks in 7th and 8th -  helps to make every class a technology class, and every day an opportunity to make good decisions about how we acquit ourselves online.

Additionally, 5th and 6th grade students spend time every cycle in Digital Essentials class, where our tech team teaches new tech skills, and resolves student issues through collaborative troubleshooting. Programming is an all-school endeavor at Berkeley Carroll, from first grade to senior year, and middle school is an important time for students to learn more advanced concepts and make the transition from block-based programming to text-based languages.

Class meetings: Technology lessons are integrated into Middle School classes and taught in collaboration with MS Tech integrators. 5th and 6th graders also have a dedicated Digital Essentials class once twice per cycle.
