FIRST DAY OF CLASSES (PHOTO GALLERY)
BC welcomed back lots of happy students with open arms last week. Faculty and students were excited to greet old friends and new ones. The early days of the semester provide an opportunity for our entire school community to set their sights on their hopes for the year - what we want to accomplish, the values we want to focus on, and how we can foster a positive learning environment school-wide. We are so glad to be off to such a strong start. Go Lions! Let’s have a great year! Photos.

SENIORS GET TIPS AT COLLEGE COUNSELING’S RE-BOOT CAMP
The Class of 2023 started the school year strong at the College Counseling Office’s annual Senior Re-Boot camp! Admissions reps from Bard College, Barnard College, Sarah Lawrence College, and Xavier University conducted case studies for our seniors to show what a college admissions office goes through during their unique approach to the admissions process: establishing institutional priorities, interviewing prospective students, and shedding light on how admissions decisions are made.
Workshops like this equip our seniors with the right tools to approach their applications as they navigate finding the right college to call home after BC! Our College Counseling Office encourages all students to approach the college search as a learning process, one of discovery, with the goal of enrolling at a college where they will thrive. |
BC FACULTY CO-LEADS PRESTIGIOUS SUMMER INSTITUTE
Congrats to Upper School English Chair Erika Drezner who recently served as co-director of the Klingenstein Center’s Summer Institute for Early-Career at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Known as a premier professional learning program for independent and international school educator-leaders, the Klingenstein Center works at the intersection of education, equity and change leadership.
The Summer Institute is a professional development program designed to support early career teachers in becoming even stronger educators. Leading educational researchers gave presentations, teachers studied the science of learning, and young educators had the opportunity to build their independent school collegial networks and, in Ms. Drezner’s words - “geek out on pedagogy.” |
