SCAVENGER HUNT TAKES BC STUDENTS ON 30+ MISSIONS ACROSS NYC
9th grade advisory groups recently competed in a live "Wild Goose Chase" scavenger hunt, traveling all over the city to accomplish more than 30 missions! These included: recreating a scene from Ghostbusters; buying something from a food cart; donating canned goods to a local food pantry; taking selfies with an animal other than a dog: finding heart shaped street art; getting group photos in front of (or inside) a fire truck, and riding a carousel! SENIOR SPEAKERS
Congratulations to our latest group of Senior Speakers, Owen M., Taro Z., Wen Yu C., and Gabi G.! Owen spoke about trying to impress his older cousins, and how even though his attempts made him a target for jokes, they've all become close as they got older. Taro shared his love for the piano and how his journey started with learning how to play a simple scale.
Wen Yu spoke about having the hobbies and physicality of an old person, from bird watching and tea drinking to backaches, and how embracing those quirky aspects has brought joy. Gabi reflected on their life and recalled how many experiences from their younger years would come to significantly shape who they are today.
2ND GRADERS USE SAVVY TO BUILD A HOUSE THAT WITHSTANDS THE BIG BAD WOLF
2nd Graders completed the Big Bad Wolf Challenge! After reading "How the Big Bad Wolf Got His Comeuppance", a twist on the classic fable of "The Three Little Pigs," students took on the challenge of designing a house that could withstand the wolf's huffing and puffing (the wolf was simulated by a box fan). They adapted and improved their designs as they went, relying on their observations after noticing how the force of the air could push down their houses. More photos.
