BC ALUM PUBLISHES NEW BOOK ON CLIMATE SOLUTIONS Check out this great interview that BC alum Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson '98 did with Patagonia to discuss her latest book, "All We Can Save"! Dr. Johnson co-edited the collection of essays, poems, and art from leading women on climate solutions and activism in the United States. BC ADMISSIONS & DEI TEAMS PRESENT AT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL FAIR FOR LGBTQ FAMILIES Our Admissions and Equity & Inclusion Teams recently presented and answered questions at an informational forum and panel discussion for prospective LGBTQ parents and students about the Brooklyn independent school experience. This annual event is a partnership between Berkeley Carroll, Brooklyn Friends, Brooklyn Heights Montessori, Packer, Poly Prep, and Saint Ann's. NEW FACULTY SPOTLIGHT Continuing this series to introduce you to some of our new faculty members... KARIMA HOPKINS, MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TEACHER Welcome new Middle School Math Teacher Karima Hopkins! Karima has been teaching middle school math for more than 15 years, most recently 5th - 7th grade math at LREI in Manhattan. Her teaching experience includes seven years at Brooklyn Friends School, where she taught 5th-7th grade math, 6th grade science, and served as the 7th and 8th grade dean.
Prior to that, she taught at charter schools in New York City and Boston, and the American Nicaraguan School in Managua. Karima holds a bachelor's degree in Communication from Boston College and a masters in Middle School Math and Science Education from Lesley University.
