BEYOND BC: GABRIELLE GUARNA '18/ VANDERBILT '22 As part of our Beyond BC initiative, where we catch up with a recent alum for an update on how their college experience is going, their post-college plans and their advice for current BC students, this month we spoke with Gabrielle Guarna '18, a junior at Vanderbilt University studying Cinema & Media Arts and Environmental Science! At Vanderbilt, Gabby discovered a passion for the ocean and environmental justice and it has taken her to some unexpected places, including the 2019 UN Climate Conference. "Be open to new possibilities and opportunities and allow yourself to explore all different kinds of pathways," Gabby says. "You might surprise yourself with what you find." Read more. SENIOR SPEAKERS Congratulations to our latest Senior Speakers, Lila B. '21 and Elliott R. '21! Lila talked about her love for her record album collection, which she inherited from her parents and grandparents, and shared some of her favorite album covers, lyrics, and artists and the ways they have inspired her!
Elliott told the audience about how his family's beach house in Michigan became an even more special place for him during the pandemic, and how soaking up nature there provided him a chance to truly relax. NEW ISSUE OF UPPER SCHOOL STUDENT NEWSPAPER, BC BLOTTER, IS OUT! In the new issue of the BC Blotter, staff writer Anne M. '24 dives deep into the Gowanus Canal Rezoning Plan and its potential impact on the neighborhood and the environment. It's just one of several new articles from BC's Upper School journalists!
