BC LEADERSHIP DINNER At Berkeley Carroll's annual Leadership Dinner, trustees, current and past parents, and grandparents, enjoyed dinner at the Picnic House in Prospect Park! The photo gallery. 9TH GRADERS BOND & LEARN FROM 12TH GRADE PEER LEADERS 12th grade Peer Leaders and their 9th grade "Peerlings" enjoyed games and team building time at Prospect Park during the annual Peer in the Park event! Peer leaders provide mentorship and help new students transition to high school. PREK4 STARTS THEIR JOURNEY AS SCIENTISTS PreK4 students have been learning all about what science is! The tiny scientists experimented with different tools like microscopes and safety goggles, and then made paper scientists of themselves! ATHLETICS As we approach the end of the fall regular season, all of our Upper School teams are battling for playoff positioning. Varsity Boys Soccer and Varsity Girls Volleyball both find themselves in first place in the ACIS. Two weeks left for teams to make their mark! Read Athletics Director Carmine Giovino's recap of the past week. BC CITIZEN SCiENTISTS COLLECT DATA ON BACTERIA 7th Graders are learning all about Citizen Science by going into the field! They started with a trip to Prospect Park. Their first mission: collecting data on cyanobacteria! SENIOR SPEAKERS Congratulations to our latest Senior Speakers! (L-R Leah B. '20, Sofia L. '20, Luca Y. '20, and Peter F. '20). Leah B. shared her passion for creating new worlds and characters through her creative writing. Even if she doesn't become the next J.K. Rowling, Leah said she is just happy to enjoy the escape writing offers. Sofia L. talked about the importance of being your authentic self. One way Sofia shows her authentic self is through her unique style, which often involves a fedora or a baseball hat. Luca Y. spoke about his efforts to become more involved in activism after he met protestors from Hong Kong this summer while he attended a program at the Rhode Island School of Design. Peter F. reflected on helping to launch the BC Robotics Club when he was in ninth grade. Peter said he's grateful to now have the Beta Lab to work in along with the guidance of BC Engineer-in-Residence, Mr. Byrne. WALLER ON NY STATE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL LEADERSHIP PANEL BC Head of School Dr. Lisa Waller participated in this year's New York State Association of Independent Schools Trustee Governance Workshop! Dr. Waller sat on a panel along with leaders from The Spence School, Horace Mann School, and Brooklyn Heights Montessori School to discuss how inclusive leadership has made a positive difference in their schools. BC CHESS TEAM PREPARES TO FOLLOW-UP THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON The BC Chess Team are reigning champs of the Chess Center of New York's elite Magnus League, which includes high school teams from all five boroughs! ALUMNI CARE PACKAGES FOR CLASS OF 2019 The Class of 2019 may have graduated but they are a part of BC forever! Our recent alums are receiving surprise care packages as they start their new academic adventures. Each package focuses on sustainability, and includes: a BC umbrella, BC blanket, metal straws, reusable food container, and reusable tote bag!
