STUDENTS EXPLORE & DESIGN DIFFERENT TYPES OF LIGHTING

Upper School students in Art Teacher Nell Daniel's design class have been tinkering with the idea of lighting. Their challenge was to think about form and function and create environments that would help individuals in a variety of ways. From designing solar panels for someone living in a remote location to a special light for a patient going through chemotherapy who wants a warm meditation space, students combined elements of nature and industrial materials to come up with projects that reflected empathy for the needs of their client.

STUDENTS STUDY PICASSO'S "GUERNICA"

Students in Mr. Moyano's Spanish IV Advanced class came to Sterling Place to virtually view one of the most important paintings of the 20th century: "Guernica," by Pablo Picasso.  Students have been studying the Spanish Civil War, and Picasso's work details the bombing of the small Spanish town on April 27, 1927. To get a sense of the painting's impact, which in real life is more than 11 feet tall and more than 25 feet wide, students got to see the painting in its original size.
