Jake C. shared how important his friends have been to making his time at BC special. From meeting Matty in PreK, who saved him from a bee sting during a soccer match, to going on Middle School music trips with Graham, and playing ice hockey with Zach, Jake said this core group of friends will be with him wherever he goes after BC.
Graham S. comes from a sports loving family, but he admitted athletics just aren't for him. Despite giving baseball, basketball, and football a try, and having some less than successful results, Graham said his decision to abandon sports opened the door to him to focus on the things he's most passionate about, including music and theater, and told the audience to pursue what you want to pursue.
Matty J. said he knew he wanted his speech to be funny, so he went back through his life to find just the right story. That turned out to be his summer spent at an immersive Mandarin language camp in rural Vermont. From getting caught multiple times speaking English by his instructors to organizing a basketball league with students from nearby German and French language camps, he discovered just how important communication can be.
Zach T. admitted that, after all the pain and injuries he's gone through as part of the cross country team, runners really have to ask themselves why they do it. But describing the joy of a meet at Van Cortland Park and the unknowns of each race, Zach said he's realized that, in a world where so often work is done to appease someone else, you have to find something to do just for yourself, even if you hate to love it.
