Weekly Athletic Update – Upper School and Middle School (2/7/20)

As the calendar races towards the end of February, we enter championship week for our Upper School Teams, the final week for all swim teams, and the penultimate week for Middle School Basketball.

Please take the time to review the Fall 2020 Preseason notes here.

Boys Varsity Basketball: The team enters the playoffs off an emotional Senior Night against Grace Church when Berkeley Carroll said thank you to George H. '20, Ben S. '20, Jason B. '20, and Justin W. '20. Their quarterfinal matchup is Monday at SIA.

Boys JV Basketball: The team finished the season as the #1 seed and winner of the regular season championship. They have a bye in the quarter finals and will host the semi finals on Wednesday. They will also host the championship on Friday.

Girls Varsity Basketball: The team qualified for the AAIS playoffs as the #8 seed and will travel to #1 Packer on Friday 2/7. They will find out on Friday if they qualify for the ACIS playoffs as well, but that looks likely.

Girls JV Basketball: The team enters the AAIS playoffs as the #7 seed and will travel to Sacred Heart on Monday.

7/8 Boys Basketball: The teams defeated Collegiate and Packer this week in resounding fashion. Next week the White team travels to SIA and the Cardinal team competes in the Grace Church Invitation.

7/8 Girls Basketball: The Cardinal group competed in the Grace Church Invitational this week, winning the first round game against Friends Seminary 36-30 before losing to Grace Church in the Championship. In that win, Taylor S. '25 had 30 points!

5/6 Boys Basketball: The program has a busy week next week with a double header at Grace Church where 5th grade boys will play first followed by 6th grade boys. They finished this week with a great game down at Saint Ann's.

5/6 Girls Basketball: After playing two games with Hewitt and a game down at Saint Ann's this week, the girls host Grace Church for two games on Tuesday and travel to SIA on Thursday.

Middle School Swimming: After back to back Fridays hosting successful meets against BFS for 5th-8th graders, the 7/8 Girls on the team will participate in the AAIS Invitational. The team will host the British International School one more time as a season concluding meet.

Varsity Swimming: Both the boys and girls will compete this Friday in the ACIS Championships at Lehman College and then the girls will compete in the AAIS Championships next week at Asphalt Green.
