Dear 8th-11th Grade Families,

The Upper School administration and student support team invite you to a parent/guardian meeting on November 19th: Health and Wellness for You and Your Teen. The event will run from 7-8:30 PM at 152 Sterling Place.

Three panelists will speak about specific adolescent and parental challenges:

Dr. Nanika Coor, clinical psychologist and respectful parenting consultant, will introduce parents to mindful self-care practices that can reduce the stress and conflict that can come with raising teens.

Justine Ang Fonte, Director of Health & Wellness at The Dalton School and consultant/speaker, will provide an overview of the main pillars of sex-positive parenting and how it promotes body agency, healthy relationships, and consent culture with adolescents.

Dr. Anthony Saleh, Program Director of the Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship Program at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, will be discussing the popularity of teenage vaping and the sicknesses associated with it that are alarming doctors and public health officials.

Each of the three panelists will give a brief presentation, followed by a Q and A moderated by our upper school counselor, Sue Beck. Karen Kauffmann (upper school psychologist), Alyssa Robbins (BC health teacher), the upper school deans, and I will also be at the event and available for questions.

We hope that many of you will join us.

Best,
Jane Moore
