Meet the Team
Carolyn Middleton
Carolyn Middleton, Director of College Counseling, came to Berkeley Carroll in 2016 with nearly 25 years in college admissions, advising, and counseling, having served most recently as Director of Admissions at Barnard College. In addition to her prior experience in admissions at the University of San Diego (CA), Boston University (MA), and St. Mary's College (CA), her work experience also includes leadership roles in college counseling at two secondary schools, Colorado Academy (CO) and Sacred Heart Preparatory (CA), as well as academic advising for first years and sophomores at Columbia University. Carolyn is a member of the University of Toronto Advisory Board. She earned her graduate degree in Higher Education from Harvard University.

Khaliah Williams
Khaliah Williams, who joined the staff in 2015 as both College Counselor and a member of our English department, served as the Director of Multicultural Recruitment at Sarah Lawrence College and an Assistant Director of Admission at Eugene Lang College the New School for Liberal Arts. Her counseling experience, prior to Berkeley Carroll, includes five years as a College Counselor at the Friends School of Baltimore. Khaliah is a member of the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools DEI Committee and the Colorado College Counselor Advisory Board. She writes fiction and nonfiction and her work can be found at Buzzfeed, Salon, The Second Shelf, and Day One by Amazon. She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

Luis Almonte
Luis Almonte, who joined the staff in 2019, came to Berkeley Carroll most recently from New York University (NY) where he advanced diversity initiatives for the admissions office and worked closely with students and families both from New York City as well as Mexico and Central America. Prior to NYU, Luis worked for the admissions office at Lehigh University (PA) where he read applications from the Berkeley Carroll School. The College Office team is extremely excited about the expertise Luis brings to our team with an MA in Counseling Mental Health and Wellness from New York University (NY).

Mary Dunne
Mary Dunne, the College Office’s Operations Manager, has been a member of the Berkeley Carroll community for more than 23 years, having spent many years in the Admissions Office before transitioning full time to College Counseling. We are incredibly lucky to have someone with her institutional memory and logistical expertise on staff.
