Engineering Students Pitch Design Ideas for Campus

How can we make our spaces at BC even better for student learning and comfort? Upper School students in Principles of Engineering tackled this question in their first project of the year.

Working in teams, students first researched and conducted surveys to obtain feedback from the community on potential opportunities and limitations for change. Then they designed innovative solutions for one objective, such as colder drinking water in the gym, ways to make our HVAC system even more efficient, practical updates to the courtyard entrance, and more ergonomic seating in the science classrooms.

After each team presented their proposals to a panel of judges, Finn F. ‘24, Kai F. ‘25, and Michael M. ‘25, won top prize with their noise dampeners for the cafeteria chairs, aided by a dynamic presentation, working prototypes, and a riveting demonstration. Congrats!
