Award Winning Author Shares the Language of ASL With Kindergartners
Berkeley Carroll’s Kindergarten class had a special visit from award-winning children’s book author Kentrell Martin as part of their unit on the 5 senses!
Mr. Martin, author of "The Shelly’s Adventure Series," gave an engaging and interactive presentation, reading from "Shelly’s Outdoor Adventure" while teaching students over 20 signs in American Sign Language (ASL)—including “yes,” “no,” “tree,” “forest,” colors, numbers, and more!
Inspired by his brother, who is Deaf, and motivated to bridge the gap between the Deaf and hearing worlds, Mr. Martin created a fun, educational book series and travels the globe to introduce kids and parents to ASL.
Thank you, Mr. Martin, for sharing your inspiring story with us!
