3rd Graders Research Oysters

3rd Graders Research Oysters

BC 3rd graders were marine scientists for the day, collecting data on oysters for the Billion Oyster Project at the Valentino Pier in Red Hook! Students pulled the oyster cages from the water to see how many oysters were alive, measured their size, and examined water conditions for salinity and PH.

The Billion Oyster Project is a nonprofit on a mission to restore oyster reefs in NYC waterways, and by lending their skills as researchers and data collectors, our third graders are helping them reach that goal.
