Middle School Physical Education Teacher/Coach 2021-22

Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of 970 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City.  Our vibrant intellectual community draws students from all over the city. The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking a full-time middle school physical education teacher and coach. This position reports to the Chair of Physical Education and to the Director of Athletics. Berkeley Carroll is looking for a versatile individual with a strong background in both physical education and competitive athletics, who is qualified to work with students from ages 10-18. 


  • Plan and instruct inclusive physical education classes for Grades 5-12 students emphasizing safety, fun, and skill development.

  • A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community

  • Evaluate and assess student performance in physical education classes.

  • Work with other members of the Physical Education Department to create lesson plans and develop curriculum

  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents about student progress

  • Participate actively in the school community, which includes advising and coaching middle or upper school team sports

  • Commit to personal growth through active participation in professional development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Certifications: 

  • Physical education teaching and coaching experience

  • A bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree is preferred.
