After School Staff

Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of almost 1000 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. Our vibrant intellectual community draws students from all over the city, admission to the school is competitive, and both our parents and students value achievement.

The Berkeley Carroll School seeks staff for its after school program for Grades PreK to 4th grade to help with our after school playgroup. The mission of the program is to offer opportunities for unstructured play, with the option of more structured experiences. The ideal candidate will understand how four- to ten-year-olds play and relax after school while facilitating ongoing communication with parents and staff.

We are looking for candidates who are interested in working with children in an after school play setting. Organizational skills, a love of children and flexibility are required. The program runs Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm when school is in session. The position will start on March 28th, 2022 and run through the remainder of the school year.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop connections with the Lower School children who attend the After School Program.
  • Support the work and report to the Auxiliary Programs Manager
  • Provide empathetic, attentive care for children
  • Organize outdoor games
  • Create open ended, creative art projects
  • Facilitate building community
  • Help resolve the inevitable conflicts of play and sports in ways that align with Berkeley Carroll’s practices
  • Coordinate with Auxiliary Programs Manager on attendance and enrollment tracking
  • Maintain shared space and respect established Lower School procedures and rules
  • Communicate with parents and/or the Auxiliary Programs Manager about any problems that may occur.


  • Bachelor’s degree or working toward a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to work M-F from 3:00-6:00 pm, beginning on March 28th, 2022
