Young Campers Club
June 23 to July 24, 2008
The Young Campers Club is an enriched early childhood program for the day camp's youngest participants. Depending on enrollment, there generally are three groups of Young Campers: those for whom day camp is a first group experience, children who have completed a year of PreKindergarten, and children moving up to Kindergarten. Class sizes are kept small to ensure personal attention and to maximize socialization and learning. Every group has a head counselor, an assistant counselor, and a counselor in training or junior counselor.
Young Campers participate in age-appropriate learning activities that emphasize creativity and social skills. Nurturing by affectionate and attentive staff gives each child a strong start toward building self-confidence. Specialist teachers in art, music, and physical education/swimming give the children an enriched camping experience. Our young campers also participate in trips and special events, such as Field Day in Prospect Park, Carnival Day, Mardi Gras, and theme days.
Parents may register their children by the week or for the entire five-week session. Kindergarten children may attend the first three weeks of Young Campers and opt to enroll in an "Explorations" mini session for the final two weeks of camp. Also available is a half-day program, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for all Young Campers.
