Program Details

Coding Corner (Grades 1-2)

Students will expand their computational thinking skills through unplugged and plugged coding activities. Computational thinking refers to the thought processes involved in solving problems as computational steps or algorithms. Students will explore various coding tools, including Bee-Bot robots, Osmo coding app, and Dash robots.

Gymnastics (Grades K-3)

Gymstars camps are action-packed with exciting skills to learn and movement routines that motivate and challenge! Each day begins with a warm-up with lively music and conditioning with cross mat tumbling. Then our campers are led through an obstacle course of gymnastic and circus skills as they master the challenges in their path; all while having TREMENDOUS AMOUNTS OF FUN!

Inventing with Minecraft (Grades 2-3)

Calling all young adventurers and Minecraft enthusiasts! Get ready for a camp that combine the magic of Minecraft with the thrill of coding. In this exciting camp, your child will not only dive into the world of Minecraft but also learn the art of modding in Minecraft education. They'll become creators, using their coding skills to craft custom creations that are uniquely their own. It's the perfect opportunity for your camper to embark on a journey of problem-solving and creativity with Minecraft. 

Jewelry & Accessory Design (Grades 1-3)

Design, sculpt and fabricate your own jewelry and accessory pieces in this project-based course. Through a project-based exploration, students will imagine and design their own pieces after learning about the historical context and cultural significance of different types of jewelry and accessories. 

Magic School Bus with Child's Play (Grades K-3)

Join Ms. Frizzle and the kids of Walkerville School for a rollicking adventure in theater! We'll ride the school bus into space, back in time and even inside molecules. With songs from the hit TV show and our favorite themes from the books, we'll jump into the drama of the natural world with daily rescue missions and escapades that leave us sillier and smarter! Led by professionally-trained actors, kids flex their imaginative muscles and learn the basics of vocal warm-ups, character development, storytelling and choreography. Camp culminates in a video showcasing their original stories and songs. 

Puppetry (Grades K-1)

In this camp, campers will design their very own mini puppet stage complete with backdrop and stick puppets. We will learn about how to make a simple story, setting and characters. Campers will learn about different designs by looking at the work of outstanding examples of puppetry. Students will experiment with making a rod puppet and will learn some basics of TV puppetry. 

Science Wizards (Grades K-1)

Combine STEM & storytelling in this fun and explorative wizardry camp! Kids will learn about chemistry, potion making and have fun with some magical activities like learning spells, owl making and more! We'll pepper in elements of science and chemistry while expanding our creative thinking skills. 

Animal Art (Grades K-1)

In this camp, campers will have fun creating pieces of art under the theme of animals. Campers will create a different animal each day through exploring various art making techniques such as sculpture, printmaking and puppet making. Campers will also explore famous artwork and read stories of animals in order to get their creative juices flowing. Using different mediums, campers will create their own animal art, whether it be a real animal or imaginary, to add to the animal kingdom. 

Basketball (Grades 1-3)

The Berkeley Carroll Basketball Camp is designed for children entering grades 1 though 3, who are looking for an intensive but enjoyable training program. Working under the guidance of experienced coaches, campers will focus on different basketball fundamentals each day, including shooting, passing, footwork, etc. Participants will be divided into groups based on age and experience. The camp is open to students of all levels and abilities, but participants should be able to participate in 2-3 hours of sports activities each day.

Bookmaking and Illustration (Grades 2-3)

In this camp, campers will explore a range of bookmaking and illustration techniques. Campers will get inspired by their favorite picture books, graphic novels and bound books. We'll explore the "how-to's" of bookbinding and experiment with a wide range of art supplies and materials to create their own books. 

Circuit Creators (Grades K-1)

Give your child an electrifying experience with our Circuit Creators camp! They'll dive headfirst into the world of circuit design and electricity, creating everything from their very own radio and magnetic switch to fused motors, sirens, music players, portable fans and more! Our hands-on approach makes learning a blast, as students explore the fascinating world of hardware by building their very own contraptions.

MIT Scratch (Grades 2-3)

Students will work collaboratively to create animations and games using Scratch. Scratch is a platform and online community developed by MIT designed to teach kids how to write code. In addition to learning basic programming concepts, students will discover how working as a team can make bigger ideas come to life. We'll develop our projects together as we strive to incorporate everyone's ideas and talents, and provide constructive feedback along the way. At the end of the class, we'll share our work with the online Scratch community. 

Pride Rock with Child's Play (Grades K-3)

Come sing and dance with the rhythm of the pride lands! The savannah comes to life as students play as animals, birds, fish and insects as they work toward an original re-telling of the Lion King! As the "cubs" go on a thrilling quest for the crown they'll learn musical theater skills and more. Led by professionally-trained actors, kids flex their imaginative muscles and learn the basics of vocal warm-ups, character development, storytelling and choreography. Camp culminates in a video of showcasing their original stories and songs. 

Sculpture Explorations (Grades K-1)

With a focus on sculpture and three-dimensional art, we will help students explore fun projects using paper, clay, fiber, beads and more! Campers will learn techniques including carving, shaping and building with different tools, letting their imagination run wild as they see their materials transform. Magic happens when kids make art!

Cardboard City (Grades K-3)

Jump into the world of building design and create a cardboard city around you! We will work together to design, build, paint and decorate recycled cardboard boxes to create a city oh houses, skyscrapers, apartment buildings, schools and more! What types of buildings are in our community? How do we decorate a building? Our campers will become architects, engineers, painters and designers to bring our unique city to life. 

Coding with Robotics (Grades 2-3)

Students will learn to program their own robot using the Makeblock mBot kit. We'll explore how each component fits together to make the bots work and what its job is. We'll learn about inputs and outputs, and how to program instructions that tell our bots what to do. Students will work in pairs and on teams, and we'll create environments as a class to test how our robots respond. The platform we'll use to program our bots is based on MIT Scratch, so this camp is a great compliment to any child interested in building on their experience with Scratch or other coding platforms. 

Dazzling Discoveries (Grades K-1)

Uncover the science of wild weather, animal species, gems and fossils and many other exciting topics with hands-on science lessons. Through demonstrations, and activities, we will explore scientific principles of the world around us and learn as we go! This is the perfect class to let anyone's curious mind run wild!

Lego Design Thinkers (Grades K-1)

Embark on a LEGO adventure with our specially designed camp, perfect for our youngest explorers! Join us as your child's creativity takes flight, one thrilling class at a time. In this imaginative journey, they'll master the art of design thinking, crafting adorable robots, bringing friendly farm animals to life, and designing fantastic buildings. As our young adventurers dive into brainstorming their very own incredible LEGO creations, they'll develop critical design thinking skills. The grand finale? They proudly showcase their masterpieces to their fellow explorers, fostering a sense of teamwork and camaraderie. Under the Sea with Child's Play (Grades K-3)

Dive into the drama, inspired by The Little Mermaid, Moana and the best aquatic-themed kid literature! Play a game a Sneak Tag with the Sea Witch, find treasures from the deep, and enjoy showing off your skills at the underwater ball! Kids are inspired to make their own stories and sing classic songs for a "splashy" final video showcase! Led by professionally-trained actors, kids flex their imaginative muscles and learn the basics of vocal warm-ups, character development, storytelling and choreography. 

Youth Multi-sport (Grades 1-3)

The Berkeley Carroll Youth Multi-Sport Camp is designed for children looking to develop their athletic and cooperation skills in a positive, fun and organized learning atmosphere. Working under the guidance of experienced coaches, campers will explore a variety of different sports and games, including soccer, basketball, swimming and pickleball. Campers will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through drills, games and scrimmages. Each day will consist of training sessions in both Berkeley Carroll's gymnasium and pool. The camp is open to campers of all levels and abilities, but participants should be able to participate in 2-3 hours of sports activities each day.
