Learning Support Services
Berkeley Carroll’s Learning Support Services (LSS) is deeply integrated into the life of the school. The primary focus of the LSS is to provide supportive services for students with learning differences. The LSS also helps to enhance an environment of better teaching and learning for all students through its collaborative work with school faculty and support with curriculum development. The LSS also provides consultative collaboration for parents and student’s outside support.
The LSS is made up of four learning specialists, two for the Lower and one for the Middle and Upper Divisions. This enables the school to better support and follow the growth of individual students across all school divisions. Though the particular models of the LSS differs among the school divisions, each learning specialist collaborates directly with the classroom teachers to support students with different learning styles and constructs and oversees individual learning plans for students with documented evaluations and specific learning needs.
The learning specialists in each division work closely with the Division Directors, school psychologists, and faculty. The LSS coordinates faculty meetings concerning newly published educational materials, clinical development, research findings, and teaching methodologies. Additionally, the LSS keeps faculty informed of upcoming workshops and conferences meant to enhance teaching and learning throughout the school.
